The background leaves provided framing for him and as the painting developed I imagined that sometimes the beauty of the natural world does seem like a very good place to worship the Creator of all things. I took the liberty in this painting of making the lacey sun and shadow of the leaves look like a wilderness of arching stained glass and, to tell the truth, had a lot of fun developing this concept.
